For as long as I can remember, I’ve been captivated by those heartwarming “reveal” moments on home makeover shows. You know, the instant when unsuspecting homeowners, often with incredible backstories, pull off their blindfolds to see their transformed space for the very first time? That flood of disbelief, awe, profound gratitude, and sheer joy that radiates from their faces? It’s truly magical.

Now, each morning when I wake up and step into my brand-new kitchen, I relive that exhilarating “reveal” day all over again. It still feels surreal to comprehend that this magnificent space is actually *mine*. I pinch myself daily, realizing I’m the incredibly fortunate one who gets to live here, create delicious meals, host cherished friends and family, and simply call this beautiful place home. It’s an extraordinary gift, and I often find myself welling up with gratitude – sometimes even breaking into spontaneous, joyous dance parties to celebrate this incredible transformation. Who knew a kitchen could inspire such happiness?

The journey to completing this kitchen remodel has certainly been an adventure, filled with its share of lessons and triumphs. As you can plainly see, I wholeheartedly embraced a “white-on-white-on-white” design philosophy, and the results are absolutely captivating. Every element contributes to a cohesive, luminous aesthetic. From the sleek Whirlpool White Ice appliances to the pristine white cabinets sourced from Cabinet Giant, and the exquisite marbled white quartz countertops by DalTile, each choice blends seamlessly to create a harmonious and sophisticated environment.

Initially, I admit I harbored a slight skepticism, wondering if such an abundance of white might feel overwhelming, or if varying shades would clash rather than complement. However, my concerns quickly dissolved. The interplay of textures and subtle nuances between the different white elements has created a truly spectacular effect. The kitchen exudes a fresh, modern, and impeccably clean vibe. What I adore most is the incredible brightness it brings to my home every single day, especially when bathed in natural sunlight. It doesn’t just reflect light; it truly *glows*, transforming the entire atmosphere into one of serene luminosity.

The sheer brilliance of the white surfaces even presented a fun challenge for my camera, struggling to focus amidst all that wonderful brightness!

The Luxury of Space: Countertops and Storage Galore

For the very first time in my adult life, I am experiencing one of the greatest kitchen luxuries imaginable: an abundance of space. And when I say space, I’m primarily talking about the glorious expanse of countertops! Throughout my culinary journey, I’ve always operated within the confines of notably small kitchens, often grappling with incredibly minimal counter space. This certainly honed my skills in creative stacking, meticulous organization, and maximizing every square inch available. But now, to possess feet upon feet of continuous counter surface is nothing short of glorious.

It’s almost like the feeling of upgrading from a twin-sized bed to a king – you still find yourself subconsciously huddling in one small corner. I often catch myself trying to perform ten tasks in the same tiny section of the counter, only to have that delightful “aha!” moment: “Oh right, I can actually spread out now!” This newfound freedom allows for more efficient meal prep, easier entertaining, and simply a more enjoyable cooking experience. It’s truly transformative.

Stunning Cabinetry from Cabinet Giant: More Than Just Storage

Without a doubt, the first feature that consistently draws gasps of admiration from visitors stepping into my new kitchen is the awe-inspiring white cabinetry from Cabinet Giant. It might be challenging to fully appreciate their impressive scale and towering height from photographs alone, but let me assure you – they are both exceptionally tall and undeniably exquisite. I’ll be dedicating an entire post to delve deeper into these magnificent cabinets, but I cannot recommend this company highly enough!

The cabinets, particularly this White Ice line that captured my heart, are absolutely breathtaking in person. They boast a gorgeously applied, pristine white finish, feel remarkably heavy and sturdy to the touch, and offer an incredible amount of storage capacity. It has been an absolute delight to unpack and finally assign proper homes to all my kitchen essentials – items that previously found refuge in closets, crammed onto bookcases, and yes, even tucked away under my bed. Now, everything fits perfectly, and the entire kitchen looks seamlessly organized and chic.

(*A note on backsplashes: Following some questions after my initial post, I wanted to address my design choice. Call me unconventional, but I’m simply not a backsplash person! My previous two kitchens also lacked one, and I’ve truly fallen for the clean simplicity of a plain wall, allowing it to provide a subtle, elegant contrast to the crisp cabinets and luxurious countertops. My contractor did try to persuade me otherwise, but I’m sticking to my minimalist vision.*)

The Showstopping Whirlpool White Ice Appliances

Another element that immediately elicits “ooohs” and “ahhhs” from friends and family is the incredible White Ice appliance line from Whirlpool. In fact, these stunning appliances were the initial inspiration that solidified my “all white everything” vision for the entire kitchen. They are, without exaggeration, total showstoppers. Just looking at this refrigerator fills me with an almost childish giddiness – and wait until you see the organized wonderland inside! But the marvel doesn’t stop there; the amazing double ovens, the sleek cooktop, and the efficient dishwasher all contribute to a truly high-end, functional space.

…and let’s not forget the microwave, which is equally impressive. I’ve simply never had the pleasure of owning a home equipped with such thoughtfully designed and high-performing appliances. Seriously, I now actively look forward to every opportunity I get to use them, even if it’s just to quickly warm up a cup of tea. Kohler Sink & Faucet: Innovation Meets Elegance

What else is generating a lot of excitement in this new kitchen? The magnificent cast-iron sink and the utterly brilliant touch-free faucet, both from the esteemed brand Kohler. It’s a little challenging to discern from this specific photo, but the sink’s color is actually a sophisticated, very light grayish-taupe. This subtle hue pairs wonderfully with the overall white kitchen design, lending an understated elegance and classic appeal. And its sheer size is fantastic – perfect for handling large pots and pans with ease.

However, I’m fairly confident that the touch-free faucet has emerged as the undeniable favorite feature among all my family and friends. Its intuitive design allows you to simply wave your hand beneath the arch, and the water instantly turns on or off. What’s particularly clever is that the sensor is precisely calibrated; it will only activate or deactivate the water flow if your hand is within a few inches, eliminating any worry of the water suddenly stopping mid-dishwashing session. When the wonderful team at Kohler initially suggested this feature, I admit I viewed it as a pleasant, perhaps novel, perk. But after daily use, I am now completely convinced of the sheer brilliance and indispensable utility of this touch-free technology. Bravo, Kohler, for such an ingenious innovation that genuinely simplifies kitchen tasks!

Illuminating Style: Lighting and Flooring from Lowe’s

Among the many elements I adore in this new kitchen, the carefully selected lighting and flooring, both discovered at Lowe’s, stand out as absolute favorites. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts about this remodel, I instantly fell head over heels for the Allen+Roth brand of lighting fixtures at Lowe’s. I literally couldn’t wait to see these elegant pieces installed, not just in the kitchen but also gracefully suspended above my dining table. While they looked impressive in the store displays, their transformation upon installation in my actual kitchen is nothing short of *amazing*. Each fixture contributes perfectly to the overall ambiance, casting a warm and inviting glow.

The double fixtures adorning the dining room area are particularly striking and add a unique touch of sophistication. You can get a better glimpse of their charm a couple of photos down.

When we embarked on this kitchen renovation, we encountered a bit of a flooring dilemma. My initial desire was to seamlessly extend the beautiful wood flooring from the rest of my loft into the kitchen space. However, due to a few unforeseen complications, we ultimately had to pivot and opt for tile. Looking back now, I am absolutely thrilled with this unexpected turn of events, because the wood-grain tile I discovered at Lowe’s is simply fantastic! It’s not only visually appealing but also significantly more durable than traditional hardwood, a fact I’m now incredibly grateful for.

In person, the color of the tile is a lovely, light tone, and its intricate wood-grain design is truly beautiful and convincing. It creates a striking contrast against the clean lines of the white cabinets, adding warmth and texture without compromising the modern aesthetic. This flooring choice perfectly marries practicality with sophisticated design.

Designing for Connection: Seating and Entertainment Spaces

One of my primary aspirations for this kitchen, and indeed for my entire new loft, was to create an abundance of comfortable and inviting seating options. I absolutely adore entertaining, but my previous loft was quite small, often leading to guests standing around awkwardly or feeling a bit cramped during gatherings. So, I was overjoyed at the prospect of integrating additional seating directly into the kitchen area, fostering a more social and relaxed environment.

After considerable searching, I was ecstatic to discover these charming industrial metal and wood stools just last week at Nebraska Furniture Mart. Not only were they exactly the style I envisioned, but they also proved to be more affordable than many similar stools I’d encountered on the market – stools that I didn’t even like as much! To top it off, I managed to snag them during a sale. Talk about a perfect score! They add a touch of edgy sophistication and provide practical seating for casual meals or conversations around the island.

And finally, one wonderful, albeit late, surprise in this extensive kitchen remodel was the incredible opportunity to partner with Nebraska Furniture Mart and Broyhill. Together, they helped me realize the dining table of my dreams right here in my kitchen space. Oh, my goodness, this table is simply phenomenal. Just yesterday, for my book club gathering, we comfortably seated a staggering fourteen (yes, *fourteen*!) people around it for a delightful meal. For an entertainer like myself, this truly is a dream come true.
