These remarkable confections became an instant favorite for our group, so much so that we found ourselves irresistibly drawn back to the cafe throughout the weekend for repeated indulgences. The rich, nuanced flavors and impeccable craftsmanship truly set Kohler chocolates apart as a gourmet delight.

An Epicurean Journey: Dinner at The Immigrant Restaurant

Following our sweet interlude, we embarked on our inaugural dinner at the American Club’s renowned Immigrant Restaurant. A light, nourishing lunch provided the perfect interlude, sustaining our sense of calm. And, of course, no Food & Wine Experience would be complete without the wine. Attendees are encouraged to embrace the spirit of the festival, with wine tasting sessions commencing as early as 11 AM! One of the true privileges of the festival was witnessing live demonstrations from culinary legends such as Jacques Pepin and his talented daughter, Claudine. Their stage presence was absolutely captivating – a perfect blend of inspiring artistry, charming anecdotes, and delightful humor. Beyond their captivating personalities, the food they prepared was nothing short of de-lish, a testament to their mastery and passion, making them a highlight of the Kohler Food & Wine Experience.

That evening, we eagerly donned our finest attire for the grand opening event of the festival: the much-anticipated Taste of the Vine gala. This exclusive event transforms the entire Kohler Design Center, which we had previously toured by day, into an epic, glittering showcase of culinary excellence and sophisticated entertainment. The showrooms, typically dedicated to displaying Kohler’s stunning products, became elegant backdrops for gourmet appetizers, fine wines, and craft beers, served generously throughout the center. It was a unique and memorable experience – certainly my first time enjoying exquisite sushi and a robust Cabernet in the stylish setting of a swanky bathroom display during the Kohler Food & Wine Festival!

Among the many visually striking displays, the famous “Wall of China” invariably captured everyone’s attention, becoming a popular photo opportunity. Words barely do it justice; imagine an awe-inspiring vertical arrangement of toilets, stacked as high as the eye can perceive, a quirky yet impressive homage to Kohler’s core heritage, even amidst the most elegant of galas.

Meeting a Culinary Icon: Chef Cat Cora

The anticipation was palpable the following day as we eagerly counted down the hours until the cooking demonstration by one of our absolute favorite culinary personalities, the trailblazing Chef Cat Cora. Her presence at the Kohler Food & Wine Experience added another layer of prestige to the event.

Adding to the excitement, we were granted the incredible opportunity to sit down for an exclusive interview with her directly after her captivating demonstration. We were undeniably starstruck to be in the presence of a woman who has achieved so much in the competitive culinary world. From her iconic status as an Iron Chef and host of “Around The World In 80 Plates,” to opening numerous award-winning restaurants globally, her accomplishments are truly astounding. And she manages all of this while being a dedicated mother to four sons – a testament to her incredible drive and resilience.

Yet, despite her formidable achievements, Chef Cora was an absolute delight to engage with. She exuded a refreshing down-to-earth kindness, honest insights, and an overall awesome demeanor. Our conversation spanned a range of compelling topics, including the ever-elusive work-life balance, emerging food trends, the importance of committing to projects you genuinely believe in, and much more. Her wisdom and warmth made for a truly inspiring and memorable exchange, a highlight of our culinary festival experience.

As the sun began to set on our incredible weekend, we embarked on a picturesque drive through the enchanting autumn woods of Kohler, Wisconsin. The journey itself, surrounded by the beautiful fall foliage, was a serene and memorable experience, leading us to our final Kohler dinner destination.

Tucked away amidst nature, we arrived at the charming and aptly named River Wildlife Lodge.
